We met up with the boys early in the morning at Whangarei Boys HS. For what we have heard, the boys have had a varied experience so far in Whangarei. A few of our boys are staying on farms as we heard stories about feeding cows and hunting possums! Anyhow, they are having fun. We had a good training session this morning despite the occasional tropical rain shower.
After our training session we boarded our bus for the 1 hour trip north to the historical site of Waitangi, where the Mauri chiefs signed the treaty with the British in 1840. It was a scenic drive to a beautiful location. Our boys learned a little of New Zealand's history along with experiencing a little Mauri culture....a few boys were even asked to participate in a haka.
